If this is a new install, I would highly recommend hiring someone to come in and do a "wireless site survey"... It might be hard to justify to management spending an extra few thousand bucks + / - but in return you might easily save that amount on hardware plus you will have a solid foundation in which to plan and build a solid wireless network.
You can stick to Cisco's idea, (Prepare - Plan - Design - Implement - Operate - Optimize) but I have always liked the 7 P's... (Proper - Previous - Planning - Prevents - Piss - Poor - Performance) :)
