Hi Marc.
PIX 515 is no good anymore, they test on code version 8 of ASA which you
cannot run on PIX. Your option here would be QEmu.
2651XM,2691,3725 - you should be able to run 12.4T, just make sure you
have enough RAM and Flash on those. INE guys run 2611XM in their rental
racks for Security v3, so you should be fine here.
They have now IPS sensor in the lab specs which runs IPS software v6. I
have a feeling that you can run IPS v6 software on your IDS 4215 but I
am not 100% sure. Check release notes for that one.
You still need 3560 switches though. That would be a lion share of the
buy. So it is probably easier to go with some of the rack rentals if you
have reliable Internet at home. I reckon money spent on switches would
easily cover your rack rental costs. Unless your company buys them for
you. :-)
