Cisco Hot-Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)
made by Cisco for Cisco
default hello 3 seconds with a hold timer of 10 seconds
Load balancong -no (possible by two groups -2 gateway ip addresses)

Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP)
Open IETF
Works between multiple vendors
faster than HSRP by default - hello of 1 sec, hold timer of 3 sec
Load balancing - no (possible by two groups -2 gateway ip addresses)

Gateway Load Balancing Protocol (GLBP)
made by Cisco for Cisco
same as HSRP, but allows load-balancing features
Load balancing - yes
