Justin,
I used dynamips on EC2 for all of my studying of L3 technologies, services,
etc for the CCIE lab.
I even did about half of the 360 labs using EC2, just skipping the Cat
specific sections.
I thought it worked great. I could fire up 10 routers and a few 'ethernet
switches' without ever having to worry about CPU.
And the cost is so low that I was paying maybe $20 a month at the peak.
