Oskar,
You see this is why we have different vendors, this is why i keep saying the
philosophy is very different between the vendors. One recommends this and
another vendor recommends something totally different.
If you are in the lab and you have to look up for help in the following
areas:
Cat QoS, IPv6, BGP, Multicast, IPv6 Multicast.
Mate you are NOT READY, this is why we have people failing it few times. I
still say what ever you used was NOT complete.
My students tell me that if you have to go to DOC CD for more than few
times, you will run out of time.
But for areas like IP Services where they can throw the kitchen sink, hey
you might go there once or twice.
Throughout 3 CCIEs i probably went there once or twice, because i was ready.
For example, If you have done your home work for CatQOS properly, and you
still don't understand the question, DOC CD will not be a help. You are
probably trying to resolve a tricky problem and we all know that DOC CD will
NOT be a help when it comes to tricky problems. To understand the tricky
questions, you need to understand the topic, if you memorized the commands
for a given topic, you will NOT be able to resolve the tricky questions.
Your base is where you are lacking.
But then again, this is my philosophy and this is what i tell my students
and they all kinda agree. But as far as graded mock labs, they are waste of
time and money, i have always said that and always will. They teach you
nothing, they don't tell you if you are ready either, they don't do anything
but put money in the vendor's pocket.
They only tell you that you were weak in certain areas *within that test*.
And what if you checked the DOC CD and answered few of the questions and
scored 80 percent, would you say that you are ready?
Your study plan and material should be complete and thorough enough so you
don't have to worry about DOC CD especially when it comes to core topics.
I am sorry but i am NOT here to tell you what you like to hear, i am here to
tell you the way it is (The truth) you may like it or you may chose to
ignore it, it is totally up to you.
