You will know when you have studies enough of one topic when you know AND
understand HOW it works and all of the optional keywords that you can add to
it:-)
I have seen many candidates that I have helped, look at the lab as many
isolated technologies and topics that they know how to configure. The
understanding of the technologies has to be from a view of how it works as
well as how it works with the other technologies and dependencies upon other
technologies.
Without knowing what materials you are using and your lab strategy I can
give you a few pointers:
1) Study the technologies from your vendors volume 1 workbooks to UNDERSTAND
them. Don't worry about speed the first time through. Go through them a
second time with a focus on speed and accuracy. Go through again looking for
100% accuracy and doing them with the prescribed timeframe. If you have to
review some sections take the time to do it.
2) Move on with your vendors advanced workbooks with full labs. Again, go
through them the first time without worrying about time. Take your time to
learn how all of the technologies in a given lab are fitting together and
their dependencies upon each other. Then go through the labs again with a
focus on speed and accuracy. If you get stuck on a technology then you have
identified a topic for further review.
3) Develop a consistent way of approaching each lab ( read the entire lab
first, draw it out, make short notes about dependencies in certain sections
, etc. ) and learn how to devise a way to track your time and points
consistently. This comes from my "train like you fight" mentality:-)
I'm sure that minds greater than mine will add to this for you. This is how
I had to do it to pass the lab.
