What are the other addresses on the device?

Subject: MVPN - tunel source address

Hi All,

While configuring MVPN, I observed that sometimes (may be with older IOS
version) the source address for the MDT tunnel interface will be non
loopback address with the below log message,

09:18:33: %MDT-4-LBSRC: MDT ATM4/0.12 uses source address 124.1.12.1 from a
non-loopback interface
09:18:33: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Tunnel2, changed
state to up
09:18:33: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Tunnel2, changed
state to up

I know that configuring "bgp next-hop loopback" command under VRF will solve
the issue. But I am looking for the reason behind selecting non loopback
address.

I remember reading some document where it mentions that with older version,
when we have both external and internal VPNv4 neighborship established, MDT
tunnel will prefer eBGP VPNv4 source address. But when I tried without eBGP
VPNv4, I still see that the source address is non loopback.

Can someone please explain the concept behind this?

Regards,
Nagendra
