Taufik,
All I can say that might help is that I tested with several flavors
on the M$ side. XP, W2K8, and Win7 seemed to work best. Server versions
prior to W2K8 had issues and even W2K8 had a few issues but they were
easier to overcome thanks to Microsoft having much better administrative
controls. In the end, however, none of them matched the performance,
stability, and reliability (less buggyness is a good thing) of Ubuntu or a
good old fashioned Debian install.
Right now, I'm have a quad core (Xeon 2.4s) server with 4Gb of memory and
vertical PCI slots. I have 6x4FE cards in the back and I run all my routers
on GNS3 and they connect via my ethernet cards to my 4 3560 switches. I run
full IPExpert version 4.0 labs as well as INE version 3.0 dynamips labs
with no issues whatsoever. This is all over Debian Lenny.
Ping me offline if you want the gruesome details. I will say that it took
me several days to get all my nio interfaces worked out.

|[OOT childish question] GNS3, Loopback interface, Win2k Sp4 |
>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Dear All,
I have been trying to solve this small yet i cannot resolve problem :)
for cisco simulation i have been using gns3
but until now ... i never been able to successfully implement the
communication between PC loopback interface with the router inside the
gns3.
I am using win2k sp4 ............ ( i have no problems using the same
version of gns3 in win xp )
so I guess ... gns3 in win2k sp4 is not getting along with loopback
interface ?
To save my time :) ....... I throw this here to confirm my conclusion.
is there anyone here has the same problem ?
or
is there anyone here successfully use the loopback interface to be able to
communicate router inside gns3 ?
thanks for your response
cheers,
taufik
