mpls bgp forwarding command

Hi Experts,

Is this true that mpls bgp forwading command is only good for MP-eBGP using
directly connected interface between ASBRs.

We can use this command in Multihop MP-eBGP or I have to enable the LDP
between ASBRs for label exchange?
