I assume when you say distribution, you mean it needs to have Layer3 ability
right? If so, the Catalyst 4900M with 8 baseboard 10GE ports, and add on
4-port Half Card will get you the line rate 12G port density along with all
the Cisco Layer3/2 support you need. They also have a 8Port 10GE Half card
however, its over subscribed 2:1. Basically you can comfortably get 16 10GE
ports at line rate on that 2U Chassis.
The 4900M is a pretty decent 10GE/1GE switch that really can serve as both a
core (pending on your 10GE/1GE requirement) or distribution aggregation
switch. Very popular choice among small, but vital deployments needing
Layer3 10GE capacity, yet don't want a large footprint that the larger
chassis require.
It sounds like it would satisfy your need. Check out the data sheet and talk
to your Cisco rep for more info.

If layer 2 is all you need, then no question the Nexus 5010 will be more
than enough (with growth) for you. Some folks on this
distribution response already mentioned it, so I won't go into it.
