Hi All,

Thanks for the input, its wonderfull to get the response so quickly from
experts.

on another note, I am also confused with shape Peak command

for an ex :- if you want to shape the traffic to 128Kbps with MQC

you can do the following:-

policy-map QOS
class class-default
shape peak 64000 8000 8000

but sometimes I have seen it as follows:-

policy-map QOS
class class-default
shape peak 128000

i know that in shape peak, we specify the CIR and the BC and BE values
PIR = CIR*2 if Bc equal to Be
but I am confused which one correct and if they both are correct which is the
preffered and if not what is trhe difference between these two methods.

Thanks
Imran

Apologies for missing the bit about "from class-map config mode" -- clearly
that is not right. Regardless, the example I gave is how it SHOULD look in
general.

HTH!

Mohammad,

I believe you found just another nice example of an error in Cisco
documentation. I found a nice one in Catalyst QoS section the other
day when they have pretty wrong flowchart in place. You know, with
such vast documentation and many clever eyes, we're bound to find
silly mistakes from time to time.

Btw. we just released a new audio on demand product on Friday that
covers policing, shaping and syntax involved in great detail. You
should check it out.
