There are many things to consider. Where are you in your current solutions
technology cycle? You should do a ROI study to determine the feasibility.
Also, depending upon your calling patterns and geographical footprint, you
would need to take into consideration the cost of PRI's at remote locations,
SRST, cost savings that TEHO could bring.
Then of course the deployment model can make a big difference in the initial
outlay ( centralized, distributed, etc.).
Also taking into account your current infrastructure and WAN links is
important as VoIP / UC deployments have specific bandwidth delay / jitter
requirements along with the ability of the carrier to honor your QoS
markings.
Being able to answer these questions will give you an indicator as to
"should we implement Ip Telephony" then you can move on to better answer the
"why should we question".
