The technology is normally used for inter-as multicast in the instance where
you may want unicast traffic on one link only, and multicast traffic on one
link only. However, there is no reason you can't be a little sick and
twisted to use it to also fix RPF failures within your own AS by itself : )
If you can't add a static mroute, and you don't want to play with your IGP
to fix an RPF failure, this would be a third but more complex option.
