You mean that the device works correctly in general but some deep features
do not? If the IOS is right this is very unlikely. I would only verify that
all interfaces (including serial ports) work OK by testing real
connectivity. I purchased once used 3500-48 for home network and discovered
much later that one of the ports was dead.
To lower the risk:
Ask the seller to send you "sh ver", "sh int".
If possible make sure that right IOS is already installed.
Confirm that that 7 days counts from the day you received the package, not
from the day they shipped it, some sellers play that dirty game.
This is only my personal opinion but this what I do now when purchasing
networks gear of Ebay.

without having a full lab? If you just started building your lab and you
only have one router or switch that you got from Ebay and you only have 7
days to get your money back if something doesn't work how can you fully test
it without other devices ?
