Switch speed, duplex negociation question

Hello,

I am testing duplex and speed negotiation and it does not work as described
in "CCIE Routing and Switching Cert Guide v4". On page 8 it says that
switches detect duplex setting via auto-negotiation only. If
auto-negotiation is disabled switch will use defaults. For 10 and 100 mbps
interfaces default is half duplex. To disable auto-negotiation you need to
statically configure speed and duplex.

Here is my config. SW1 and SW2 are connected with x-over cable. Switches
have 100 mbps interfaces.

SW1 config:
interface FastEthernet0/19
end

SW2 config:
interface FastEthernet0/19
 speed 100
 duplex full
end

According to the book SW1 should be now half-duplex because SW2 is NOT
auto-negotiating now. However SW1 is in full-duplex mode. If I set SW2 to
half-duplex SW1 will go to half-duplex too. It works the same for 3560s and
3550s.

Is the book right, am I am doing something wrong ?
