Yes, dynagen is MUCH BETTER ! And dynagen also supports the PIX since it has PEMU integrated (release 0.11.0).
A few days ago i tried to move my .net files to GNS3 and it was a nightmare: first i had to recalculate all the idlepc values i had,
second there are many options not accepted in the .net file since we are supposed to do that under GNS3 (image, ram, npe,...). After
removing some of these options, i started getting some crashes. So basically i decided to do everything from scratch. Fortunately we
are able to open the nvram/rom files with notepad/wordpad and configuring the devices was only a matter of doing some copy/pastes...
ASA and JUNOS are now supported under GNS3 but just because of QEMU. So, GNS3 is just a pretty interface and a wrapper for
Dynamips/Dynagen/PEMU/QEMU. But in terms of performance and stability, the best we have are the 2008 binaries:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dyna-gen/files/
GNS3 blog only has two entries but they are a must for those trying to emulate ASA or JUNOS:

Technically speaking, GNS3 is using Dynamips ;-).
I do agree with Narbik here though. I created my topology with GNS3 to
make it look nice, but I also prefer using Dynagen instead. Much
lighter and more reliable... (and not horribly out of date for Mac, as
GNS3 is).
GNS3 does offer some additional features, like PIX/ASA support, which
Dynagen doesn't.
