Nope, no need for suppression there... I simply hadn't read the web
page other than being amused at the list of people on there. But yes,
blatant copy. Or somehow we all should have been getting two paychecks
along the way!

  Scott,

I guess it may have been too long since you last worked at IPexpert and some
of the old memories are starting to slip out ;) (Or you are trying to
subconsciously block them.) But looking at the website http://www.toccie.com/allback.htm I will copy a couple things down here for
you to help you out though:

"I wanted to thank the TobeaCCIE team. I used TobeaCCIE's mock lab for final
preparation. I used this three days before my lab to work out any kinks with
my time management. This lab kicked my butt, but I learned from my mistakes
both time wise and technology. The lab breakdowns were extremely
comprehensive and informative. Especially thanks to Tyson Scott for manual
grading my mock lab (even on a Friday night) and then posting my results
when we ran into some technical difficulties. Also thanks to Glen for
working with me with the vRack session. Outstanding customer service and
  product!"

  Or

"CCIE preparation is made up of many facets. The TobeaCCIE Security Lab and
  Proctor Guides have been an extremely valuable facet of that preparation;
and I highly recommend them to anyone pursuing the CCIE-Security.

Even more specifically, Scott Morris and Mark Snow have been invaluable
resources. All the folks at TobeaCCIE truly have your success in mind, and I
have experienced only TOP notch customer service! "

Now having said that I think you will recognize why your name is on the list
there Scott. If you haven't still gotten it replace "TobeaCCIE" with
"IPexpert" and you know where they got the code for this website :)

  Robert,

Being an IPexpert employee I can recognize that the first website is a copy
of our old testimonial website. I guess I could start ranting and raving
that someone copied our website and made it their testimonials but sometimes
mimicking is a form of flattery. This also means that you were on our
success list at one time as it is on that website, but I don't see you on
our list anymore? Did you work it out with customer service in the past?
Because it is no longer there your email really is such a strange attack.
Or has it been a while since you last checked? Really, I am curious now?

I understand the frustration at times, as a CCIE I see my name on other
vendors websites that I have never used their products as well but I have
found more professional ways to communicate my frustration, like speaking
with them directly. I would hope you can do the same in the future.

I would say I am really surprised by such a blatant attack, but recently my
mind has changed by the things I have seen and I am not at all surprise me
with many people's hidden motives. Would this mean that we need to look out
for the name Robert Hosford because it entails rants and name smears? Most
likely not, I would hope this is a misunderstanding, so I wish you the best.

But I will be honest. Looking at your number 14711, It means you took the
lab about a year after I took my R&S lab. So you may have had similar
experiences to myself at that time. I purchased the IPexpert R&S product
for my studies and I really didn't think much of it at the time. To say the
least I was disappointed. When I started working for IPexpert in November
2007 and saw the changes that they made to the new versions of the R&S
product I thought it was pretty good but still not the best on the market,
there were still too many errors in the labs to have it considered the best
but it was without a doubt adequate to help students pass the lab. By far
the Volume III workbook was the best, in my opinion for the 07-08 revision.

Having said this I will say the new R&S product, especially our Volume III
labs, which are structured just like the v4.0 lab, are some of the best
study material I have ever seen. When students come back to you and say
your training material is spot on to the labs technical difficulty and
layout of the lab you know you are doing the right thing. The work that our
team has put into these new products is just amazing.

Now back to me; On my other tracks, Security and Service Provider, I have
used only IPexpert material for passing the labs. The IPexpert material was
awesome. In May 2007 I studied for a total of 3 weeks for my Security lab
and passed it on the first attempt because the material was so good. I must
also mention that I had extensive experience in security already being a
Cisco employee, working in Advanced Services focusing on many of these
technologies. So I wouldn't expect someone without experience to come off
the street and have that same success. But the product was very good.

The new Security lab training material is also another place that we are
being very successful. I won't talk about that product though as I have
done most of it and I don't want to toot my own horn. But to my knowledge
we have one of the most, if not the most, successful programs in the
  industry right now.

While the Voice training space is just amazing with how many students are
passing using IPexpert's new material. There are new students passing every
week for Voice. More than I have ever seen before for this track. The
voice instructors have done an amazing job with this product too. Really
watching the voice study list I see more success on there than in each of
the glory days of the R&S track. Which will again return, there is always a
  lull after a change.

For my Service Provider lab, I had previously not been interested in it. It
wasn't until I redesigned our internal network for our new Voice track, to
support overlapping addressing for the voice customers, that I found any
interest in it. After finishing this implementation, I thought I would go
ahead and start studying for the SP. For the SP I studied for about 4
weeks as well before passing the lab. I had passed my written in 2008 but
couldn't find time to study for the lab until just before I took the test.
(You will find if you go for multiple CCIE's a lot of technologies overlap
and the process of taking the lab also becomes easier because you are not so
nervous about it. So this is not a great accomplishment by any means.)

When I worked thru the Service Provider material, the Volume 1, again was
so-so. Again a lot of errors and the technical difficulty really wasn't
there, (which have mostly been fixed now.) But when I worked thru the
second part of our volume II workbook, I found these later labs very
different from the beginning of the workbook, very challenging and very well
written labs. After finishing, I asked Wayne (the owner of IPexpert), "who
was the person that wrote the Service Provider labs?" We need him as an
employee. (This would be one of the many reasons why we now have Marko as an
employee of IPexpert. He is an extremely talented engineer. I would give
him most of the credit for my success in this test.)

There are two training vendors that I can attest to my success. Both of
them I hold in high regard. It just so happens I work for one of them and
am very happy with it. (Although at times I am physically exhausted trying
to get this material out for our happy customers.) I think IPexpert has
some of the best customer service in the industry and I think our products
  are second to none.

Do I think there are very intelligent Instructors not working for IPexpert.
I Sure do... I have a great deal of respect for many other training vendors
and instructors, in fact I like many of them both as a person and on a
professional level. You all should be very grateful for all they have
contributed to this community. As the whole face of the CCIE training space
is vastly different from the early days and there are a bunch of extremely
intelligent people that have made your lives much easier.

  your permission

This email is for all of those who want to be a CCIE. When you look around
you will see many sites claiming to have trained many CCIEs. That site is
claiming that if you use their products you can be a CCIE just like the
CCIEs on their roster. That the CCIE on their web site is endorsing their
  products and training.

Well I can tell you that most sites are lying. Like this fly by night CCIE
  rip-off site. http://www.toccie.com/allback.htm
I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF OR USED THEM. You should stay away from them whomever
  they are.
http://www.ipexpert.com/Company/Success I HAVE NEVER USED THEM or their products to get my CCIE. I do not endorse
them in any way. They are lying to you by putting my number on their wall. I
have a friend that has used them and thinks they are a complete rip-off. BTW
they are using his number to lie to you into thinking that their training
helped him get his CCIE and he endorses them.
http://www.ciscobible.net/ccie-hall-of-fame Another site lying to you. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF OR USED THEM. You should
stay away from them whomever they are.

So to the above websites get my name and number off your wall Robert Hosford
  CCIE No. 14711.

It is people like this the Cisco had to create the 360 program so you know
  is reputable.

If you want to get your CCIE number talk to Bruce at NetMasters. I know for
a fact they are the real deal. After all Bruce has trained many of the other
guys. The only site I authorize to use my number is NetMaster. No one else
is to be using it. http://www.netmasterclass.com/CCIE/Cisco-360-Learning-Program-Products-and-S ervices/Advanced-Workshops/Former-Student-Reviews/

To all other CCIEs I implore you to check out who is using your number
without permission. Remember your number is being used as a form of
endorsement. Together we can we have honest and better training for
  everyone.
