Frame-Relay PVC status

HI,
i have only single point-to-point subinterface configured as

frame-relay interface-dlci 405

if i shut down this sub-interface even this this PVC stay active. and mapped
to sub-interface although that subinterface is down. Can somebody explain
why this behavior?
What i know from previous knowledge that all undefined DLCI are mapped to
main interface. and we can move them away from main interface
to sub-interfaces by defining these DLCIs there.
Shutting down the DLCI does not mean it will be moving back to main
interface?

Any input will be appreciated.
