RE: VLAN 1002 -1005

Just to be sure this is answered. You cannot configure an Ethernet port to
be a member of these VLAN's and function. You can add a port to the VLAN's
but the port will then considered inactive. I remember an old IPexpert lab
this was used as a way to fool the customers. Not allowing a person to
create any additional VLAN's but requiring that no switchport be a part of
VLAN1. By adding them to any of these VLAN's you have affectively disabled
the ports.

Cat1(config-if)#sw ac v 1002
% Warning: port will be inactive in non-ethernet VLAN
Cat1(config-if)#
Cat1(config-if)#do sh int status | incl a0/1
Fa0/1 connected 1002 a-full a-100
10/100BaseTX
Cat1(config-if)#do sh int f0/1 sw | incl 1002
Access Mode VLAN: 1002 (Inactive)
Cat1(config-if)#

These are legacy VLAN's that have been specified to be only used for the
given technologies.

Cat1(config-if)#do sh vlan brief | incl 100[2-5]
1002 fddi-default act/unsup Fa0/1
1003 token-ring-default act/unsup
1004 fddinet-default act/unsup
1005 trnet-default act/unsup
Cat1(config-if)#

Yeah, note that they aren't Ethernet VLANs -

VLAN Type SAID MTU
---- ----- ---------- -----
1002 fddi 101002 1500
1003 trcrf 101003 4472
1004 fdnet 101004 1500
1005 trbrf 101005 4472
