Better is always in the eye of the beholder ;). A 3550 can be purchased for
$250 pretty easily now so price versus convenience is very debatable.

Better?
Its up for debate.
Some people prefer 3x Quad Port NIC's
Some people prefer 12x USB NIC
Some people prefer breakout switch.

FAisal,
I will give you the following link on 7200hacki website. It is better to
use 5 switches, (1 being a breakout switch), and the one PC NIC than a bunch
of NIC's on the PC.
Use the direction in this post and you will successfully be able to do what
you are looking for.

In Dynamips if you use 7200VXR routers with the NPE-G1 or NPE-400 you can do
100% of anything you would want to do in ISR routers as well. Dynamips will
have strange quirks where things may not function as you expect at times but
for the most part it is a very solid tool to use for your studies.
