It was for Andy to answer since he inferred an article said something about
100% CPU utilization when it clearly didn't. Also, he stated he wouldn't
recommend the 1002 for 1gbps WAN throughput.which is incorrect.

 

So, I'm waiting for him to provide something other than an article which
doesn't reference the max throughput of the box.

reviews as well as slanted ones (we not only have recommended them, we have
customers that purchased them).

Of course. Several studies have shown that the 1002 can get near 1Gbps
throughput, but with no services running and 100% CPU utilization. In
the real world you would not want to be stressing out the hardware to
that extent. Example study:

If there is a real requirement for 1-10Gbps throughput then I recommend
the 1004 or 1006 to my clients. This is typically a requirement at a
medium to large DC, whereas the remote sites are usually connected by a
WAN link anywhere between an 256Kbps ADSL to a 100Mbps Ethernet circuit.
For these sites, WAN throughput is easily managed by a 800 series or ISR
router depending upon size of link, number of users, applications, etc.

The only times I need to set expectations is when the client has a fiber
connection, that terminates at 1Gbps on the ISR, as the router is never
going to reach anywhere near that level of throughput.
