My understanding is that you do not need area 0 if all you have is one area
and you numbered it other than zero. Obviously you will not be able to
exchange routes with another non zero area later...

Subject: single area ospf with or without are 0
Hello
I have a simple question about ospf. Does single area (non zero)
implementation need connection to area 0.
