I know in HSRP that you can configure the virtual IP on 1 of the routers and
the other routers will learn about it. But as I ponder world peace, the
following questions come to mind:
* Why? Why would you not configure the VIP on every router? OK, I
know for the lab funky things can be required, but I am thinking of the real
world.
* Do the other routers relearn it at some point? I played with this
in the lab and made R1 the router with the VIP and routers 2 through 6 learned
the IP address for the group.
o However, when I changed the VIP on router 1, it did not propagate to the
other routers even though router 1 was the active HSRP router for the group.
I rebooted router 2 and after the HSRP initialized, it had the new VIP, but
routers 3 through 6 still had the old IP address associated with the group.
