You can also generate a constant stream of traffic with chargen.
Enable the service
in one router somewhere, then use telnet (target-router) chargen
command. When
the port connects, the target-router will generate 80 characters+LF
into the connected
socket until it is disconnected. The target-router can open a large
number of chargen
sessions: one can open (from other routers) many sessions, to generate
enough data
to prove what throttles or drops.
