You can disagree all you want. There was no official CCIE program in
January of 1993. The history of the program has been hashed out and is
fairly well known. The lab and Terry are the beginning of the official
program. That is recognized by Cisco.

You sent a link that stated the CCIE program was official in August of 1993
(which I think some of us knew already). That proves my point, not yours.

Actually, your point is that you want your friend to be a CCIE before there
was a CCIE program. That's great for you but it doesn't make it true. It
is also reflected in his number.

Congrats on your friend being in an early phase of what (may) became the
program but don't misrepresent what you think may have happened.

They weren't the first CCIEs. They may have been some of the first in a
program that may have been a precursor to the CCIE program.

I must disagree. They completed the program as the others:

They aren't as they obviously did not take the lab exam in the official CCIE
program.

The people who took the official and recognized lab first are the first
CCIEs in the world.

Hello Mark,

Please add my colleague Pedro Rey to your list:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Name Certification Type Certification Number Track
Certification Status Certification Date
PEDRO REY CCIE 1178
Routing and Switching Suspended 21-Jan-1993
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You can see that Pedro is an older CCIE than STUART BIGGS, TERRANCE SLATTERY
and many more that have a lower CCIE Number.

I was talking with Pedro about this and it seems in Europe some Engineers
were awarded with the Cisco TAC Engineer Certification or
something similar. The CCIE word came later so these guys got their
certification renamed CCIE. Of course, their got higher numbers
but they got their Certification first.

So these are actually the first CCIE's in the World.

Thanks.
