You could just "not mention" the CCIE and just have the relevant CCNx certs on the resume in that case......
Once on the job of course you'd be overqualified for whatever the supposed tasks were specific to the job requirements, but it would still be a paycheck coming in.

Depends on where you are. A lot of companies will shy away from hiring you
because you are "over qualified" ( say they need a CCNP level person and
you are a CCIE ) so they will not hire you even though you will agree to
work for less than the going rate for a CCIE in the area. I've found that
to be true in many markets. Companies know that you can make more money
than they can afford and don't want to sink time and money in you just to
have you leave in 6 months when a "CCIE job" comes along.
Plus it depends upon if you are willing to travel, etc.
