That is great Marko! I have told people this on several occasions in regards to something they are considering as well as some people have told me the same thing!

Each person has to find their own reason for pursuing such an undertaking. Quite frankly, there are very few people on this list that can provide me guidance in regards to why I should pursue the CCIE (outside of the professional reasons). They don't know me personally, they do not know my personality or skill set or work ethic. When I did go through the process of deciding whether or not to pursue the CCIE, I did confer with several people they do know these things about me. My wife, who also happens to be my biggest cheerleader, was the first one. Then a very good friend that not only knows a lot about me but also about the industry. Next, I was fortunate enough to be able to talk to someone on this list that is very well respected and very well versed in the CCIE certification & the process. Lastly, I prayerfully considered it.

Now, once in a while I get down and out and discouraged. During these times, I am very selective in whom I talk to about it. Most of us experience these times and it can be healthy to get a different perspective from someone else. Just be cautious that the person you confide in understands what you are going through and will be honest but also will be positive. Misery loves company and some people are not real good at encouraging others. Sometimes we need someone to just give us a quick kick in the rear. One of the people I mentioned above has said things like what Marko did below. They are aware when I am just having a pity party and we have the type of relationship that we can say almost anything and it be taking the way it was meant. Sometimes my wife climbs my case because I allow things to get out of balance. While it is important that I put in the time to achieve the CCIE, it is even more important that I spend time with my family. The kids grow fast & I will!
never be able to regain some of the missed times & opportunities. Sunday is usually a day off of studying for just that.

Just my ramblings,

Nathan Richie

No. Quit now. It's not for you.
