RE: OT - Version 4 Scoring

How can we get access to IOU ? The idea of having some many devices on an average laptop is fantastic. I heard somewhere that IOU
only runs special IOS images. Is this true ?

IOU is much more stable and more efficient versus dynamips and GNS3. On a single server (dual-core processor, 4gb memory, etc,
nothing super fancy), IOU can handle over 100+ devices and is still very stable (according to Maurilio). While the devices will be
running on IOU, the lab candidate will not have access to the IOU server itself, just the network devices running in IOU - so it
won't really make a difference to the lab candidate - routers as usual!

There's a lot more virtualization coming down the pipe from Cisco w/ regards to the CCIE lab. It will be interesting to watch the
changes over the next few years.

I wasn't very clear. I am very familiar with dynamips/GNS3. I was just curious how close IOU would look/feel to the GNS3 that many
of us are used to. More than likely, we'll just get terminal windows and won't know the difference........until it crashes.... :)

No, GNS3 is a whole separate project used Dynamips and Dynagen. GNS3 is actually just a GUI for Dynamips/Dynagen to make it easier
to use.
Dynamips is a hardware emulator.
