If you turn to linux that would be great. I can run about 14-20
routers without any issue on my Q6600 Quad-Core. (20-30% CPU)

 your laptop has enough configuration. i think you are losing
capabilities because u r running it on windows.

These days linux is not something difficult ... with linux u will get
the benefit of 64bit.
