That is strange. I recently took the exam and based on my score report
it appeared that I was not even close. I thought I had a chance when I
left so I was surprised by the results when I received them. Since I
did not have time to go through and test everything at the end I just
assumed I must have messed something up. They also said I failed the
OEQ. Based on that I didn't request a reread however I did have the
option.

They are indeed Short Answer questions that make up the Core Knowledge
Section.

Originally Cisco was calling them OEQs and it stuck.
