PPPOE - aaa authorization network

Hi,

I was wondering when you might need authorization in addition to
authentication in a pppoe client/server setup.

aaa authorization network

I searched some archives and it seems to be necessary for sending AV
pairs to the client but I suppose that would apply to a
radius/diameter based AAA server. Would it apply to local
authentication/authorization? Can anyone further explain the usage in
a pppoe example?
