Agree with Scott.
And to be more specific to answer your question Salah, it is every bit
as hard as the CCIE-RS. I don't know that I would say that it (or any
CCIE) is harder, but it certainly can be a tough journey. I personally
thought it was more difficult to achieve than my Security exam, but
then again I think that people in general have different experiences
with different CCIEs (or anything in life) than others experience. I
know a few that thought Voice was a bit easier.
Anyway, as Scott alluded to - it is hard work and a journey to be
sure, but one that is well-rewarded with gratification upon completion
- just not instantly. :-)
I would simply advise to make sure you start with the basics. Seeing
as you already have a CCIE (I assume in RS), then you already have an
advantage on the data side of the house, specifically relating to IOS-
based routers and reading debugs, etc. However, to excel at Voice (and
pass your IE) it takes knowing a good deal about the traditional
telephony side of the house as well. The CVOICE class is a great
place to start. Another great place to start is by reading the Q.931
ITU spec, since intricate PRI knowledge is a big part of the exam,
along with the fact that the ITU's H323 spec was largely based around
Q.931 and even the SCCP protocol got it's roots there. Also reading
through the SIP RFC is a great place to start. Then move onto the
CallManager Fundamentals Cisco Press book. Going through the CCVP path
isn't a bad idea to "ramp-up" to CCIE-V preparedness.
A lot of folks here ready to assist you - so don't be afraid to ask
questions!
