Hi Martin,
I like to capture "show vlan" and "show vtp status" output from all
devices before mucking around with VTP modes -- nothing like a change
from transparent to client or server to obliterate pre-configured VLAN
definitions. This information capture would be my step #1.
Sure, if you know you're going to change a switch from transparent to
non-transparent, you can cater for its locally defined VLANs on the
new/existing VTP server, but it's always nice to be able to get back
to where you started, and unlike changes to the running config, a
reload won't save you from a mangled vlan.dat.
