I actually think this needs to be emphasized. Notepad is blessing for
situations like lab or any level of bulk configuration. It's a good
habit to make configurations in Notepad, see how they look like, check
for typos... and have rollback configuration handy.
For example, if you need to create additional route-map or access-list
entries, it may be a good idea 8in lab) to copy existing entries in
Notepad, change them as needed and start the paste with "no
route-map...". That way you know that what you are pasting is what
will get used*.
I think that practising these "safe" methods, can both speed things up
and lower your chances of making accidental mistakes. If you are
really paranoid, you can keep (or save**) these snippets until the end
of the day for review.
* Of course, all warnings about clearing BGP and related things apply.
** I'm not sure if they allow you to save files on Desktop.
