I did a bit of work with VMPS about 4 years ago. We just updated the
table once a day as per IT trouble ticket or job order. I believe all
switches were notified/updated within a few minutes. Users received
their VLAN assignment though quite quickly (not even noticeable to the
users compared to the long MS Windows bootup time).
