Hello Group,
Just wondering if anyone has ever "spanned" a LCAP EC over 2 switches? I
have a scenario where I have to CAT 6500's connected with a regular Port
Channel, trunking of course and user VLANS are allowed over that trunk. What
I want to do is create an LACP EC on 2 ports so that they can form an EC
with a server that also supports LACP. So this parts easy:-
On CAT-1, we use 2 ports on different blades for resilience.
gig1/2
switchport
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 100
channel-group 15 mode passive
!
gig4/2
switchport
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 100
channel-group 15 mode passive
!
This should and does work fine with the server, who's type is irrelevant, it
supports LACP and that's all that matters.
The second part of this scenario is, the same server has 2 further
interfaces, and to provide even more resilience, you need to patch them
physically into CAT-2, same blade and port, just a different physical
switch. Then, create the same EC with the same config above (as on CAT-1)
on CAT-2. Will this work? Will the trunk between the CAT's pass that
information over? Will this provide resilience in terms of loss of blade and
then loss of entire switch. For some reason, I don't think this will work,
as EC numbering is locally significant. As far as I know I don't think you
can SPAN and EC over multiples switch. Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks.
