Hmh...
What is your strategy?
1. Open a ticket and request a pre- OCT 18 lab date. (Hey it's worth a try)
Disclaimer: Technically this worked for me... so unless I blow it....
2. How do you plan to cover the delta?
I'm serious, I really like the Sybex MPLS Certification Book for the CCIP
especially for building the conceptual step-by-step framework we all need to
maintain our sanity. I think the book is out of print but get it while you
can and if you get it for like $5.00 or $10.00 somewhere - enjoy your good
fortune.
3. What reference materials?
Read number 2 since I covered it there. IPexpert has been doing some great
labs on their blog and InternetworkExpert has some great stuff added to
their COD and other materials that are apparently included with the E2E
Program too. Narbik's 2.0 Updates are supposed to contain the best of the
best for these new topics.
All have stuff that is yet unreleased yet or still in development.
4. How much extra effort?
Well... The OEQ for these is probably going to be fierce and a lot of
concepts that we don't as well or are not comfortable with... so a bit more
than I'd like.
The troubleshooting sections are also going to be interesting so the "Master
of the VRF" is going to be mandatory too. sh ip route <vrf> being something
to get used to for example.
5. What would be the depth of the MPLS Technologies...
Well to be honest for the hands-on... I expect it to be minimal at first.
RD/RT/VFR may be a lot of the TS section and maybe at least 1 of 4 of the
OEQ section. I'm not sure that we want to sacrifice 3-4 or more devices to
properly simulate the MPLS cloud out of our 10 devices... However the BB may
be the cloud and things can get interesting there.
I'd say know it and how to configure it. Be ready to troubleshoot the
maze. Be ready for the OEQ and know the building blocks that matter for the
Troubleshooting section especially.
Listen carefully to the first contacts from those who get
slaughtered/sacrificed for the first 3 months or so...
Now if there are any CCIE SP's who are going for CCIE RS, I'd pay particular
attention to their advice.
