IS-IS SNP Question

Hello All,

In IS-IS, if i configure area-password <word>, the password is inserted in
Level 1 protocol data
unit (PDU) link-state PDUs (LSPs), complete sequence
number PDUs
(CSNPs), and partial sequence number PDUs (PSNPs).

But do i need to still configure the option "authenticate snp validate" as
like this "area-password <word> authenticate snp validate" to authenticate the
SNPs for Level 1.

Could you please explain.
