MPLS VPNs, MPBGP, and Loopbacks

Hey team,

I have begun to add mpls tasks to my ordinary studies ... just trying to see
what I can mess up and also review.

Was tshooting something tonight, and my mpls vpn was not working until I
configured the PE to PE MPBGP session to use the loopbacks. I had
previously used interface configs and remember seeing a warning message from
the router about not using loopbacks and ignored this message. I think I
read that MPBGP must use loops, but I can not find reference to it now ...
all I can find is a lot of config guides / tech tips that suggest to use the
loopbacks. Does anyone have this link? I would like to look it up and read
that section.

I ended up removing the interface peering IPs, and using loops. All is well

Interesting tshooting, all the routes would show up on the PEs and CE ...
but ping, and telnet to a vrf interface would not. When doing a ping, icmp
debugs would not even show an attempt to send a ping packet. You would see
nothing when you tried a ping ... Humm ... was odd to say the least.
