JoJo,
I am a strong proponent of CCIE certification, but I am not so enamored by
it that I think it supersedes experience. I have managed many network
engineers in my IT career and I have known some great ones who did not have
a single certification and a few were even 3Com Wizards. I would advise
you to pursue what you think is more important, but I would lean in favor of
improving your marketability with the degree before going for a second
certification.
Certifications X 2 does not equal Salary X 2!
A technical/business education is a great idea since many CCIEs hit an
earning's ceiling. But a CCIE who becomes a VP or President of a company
can really earn great rewards. I have one such CCIE in my network doing
over $300K per year and she is a VP. This was done on the strength of her
MBA and her CCIE combined.
So short answer from me is pursuing the MBA before the others, and enjoy the
crackers! These are the best times of our lives when we have a goal we
struggle towards we seem to see things more vividly and enjoy life more
thoroughly.
Call me any time if you need to chat!

Mr. Conde
I dont want to start a chain of events as we have discussed this topic many
times in the list (CCIE vs Degree)
However, I didnt know about you or your background and I think it will be
great if you can provide some information about the market trends you are
seeing out there. You are an special case and I really value your opinion.
After passing, CCIE, will it be better another CCIE, an MBA. MIS, PMP. I
know one of my local elite Schools Northwestern University offers a combine
degree with 70 technical and 30 % business. This looks great but the total
cost for a 2 year program is near the $90,000
I will probably have to eat crakers and move move back to my parents house
in order to pay for this, Do you think this kind of Executive MBAs are a
good step towads the next level? I know that many things are variables
(time, money, personal issues, ect), but if a resume came to your desk with
such Degree will it be easier to place someone like this than a CCIE without
it?
Thanks
Jb
