I am working with Qwest and using VPLS day in day out on Alcatel platform.
Before we went to VPLS, we were using legacy Ethernet/Spanning tree kind of
a topology. There were many services for which we had to say no to our
customers.
With the advent of VPLS we are offerin transparent point to multipoint
services with QinQ tunneling and what not. Customers have a better fault
redundant services. VPLS to them is more or less transparent but the benefit
is that they are getting fault redundant protected transparent services
where they can pass Spanning tree BPDU's,CDP,QOS and all the services
without interfering with our core services.
