Layer-2 WAN in a single broadcast domain.
The ability to use a single subnet for the entire WAN network, much like a
fully meshed frame relay network
no need to run routing protocols with the provider or involve them in
network changes
native support for broadcasts over a WAN topology

All of these can be reasons to go to VPLS.
