Remember that in OSPF (unlike RIP and EIGRP), all information must be known to
all routers in an area. This is a prerequisite for the Shortest Path First
algorithm. So if you were able to filter some of the information out using
distribute lists, this fundamental principle would be violated and the
algorithm would lead to some funky results. That's the reason why filtering
is done on the borders of other areas (ABRs and ASBRs).

u can use the only "in" option bc u r filtering the routes from
database to routing table......its not like rip where u drop the
routes recieved from the neighbor based on the filter.
