What do you mean you by "I can't trace the command correctly"?

Maybe one or both of these will help:

- "logging synchronous" configured on con 0, aux 0 and/or the VTY
lines as appropriate
- enter Ctrl-R at the prompt to re-display the current line

I agree it's annoying that IOS drops you down onto another line. I'm
also interested in a way to change this behaviour, if it's available.
