Hello and good evening team, I hope all is well in your world. ;-)

SAM, I did a quick search on youtube and found some videos which may help
with theory and understanding, you might choose to do some additional
searching ... a lot of good (and bad) stuff on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cisco+acl+&search_type=&aq=f

What worked for me was to read the concept and then do the math. Also,
working this w/ a router is the best. Would suggest you look at these
videos and get some time in front of a router and practice.

If you have a lab, configure two routers and then advertise some routes
(loopbacks) between the two. On one router, practice doing an access list
and then configure a "distribute-list ... in" under the routing protocol to
check your work. The access list will define which routes to permit or
deny. You will also learn some caveats about the routing protocols and this
will be a nice serendipity.

Don't forget that you may have to type 'clear ip route * ' between each
test. You should see the routes change with each filter. This is a nice
way to see the affects of your configuration.

Apart from this, I would again suggest you to make sure you understand the
math behind it all. Once you know the math, it is very portable to whatever
task you have to perform. ACLs, route filtering, etc ...
