Yeeeeahhh... anyway...
The line cards can be inserted online (OIR), but there are some other
factors to consider, such as:
- Is there a DFC on the line card? (line cards with DFCs don't stall the bus)
- What other line cards are installed in the chassis?
Ali, do some research into OIR, and 'bus stall'. Also look into fabric
switching modes (truncated, compact etc.)
I would certainly try to insert the line card during a quiet time.
I've hot-inserted this exact line card a bunch of times and never had
any perceptible trouble. It can definitely be done.
cheers,
Dale
