The CCIE RS has always been the kind of middle of the road CCIE and the one
that touches the most technologies. Some thin and others really deep.

The other CCIE's are a lot deeper in their areas of expertise, that's all.

Personally I wish I'd have known more about DMVPNs and MPLS (VRF-Lite)
before my stint with SunGard ahead of time. I got a nice learning curve and
am better for it.

Look at the new CCNA Specialties and expect that the next junior level of
network engineers are going to have some very varied skill-sets that are
well-poised towards mostly any network scenario they might expect to meet.

To me that's what the CCIE has always been about.
