For me -- 15k for a certification is a killer. Cisco and large partners more
than likely will be the only ones paying for people to take the test.
If you take a look at the cost, it is the most costly certification - at least
that I am aware of. For the cost of this ALONE, without any study materials
or fancy hardware or travel/lodging, I can pretty much pay for my Masters in
Information Assurance and Security at Capella University. Keep in mind, with
a Masters, I can jump to any part of IT and usually higher positions than you
see on dice / monster for a CCIE / CCDE. Another item to keep in mind is that
most networks are not 100% Cisco. I would assume the caliber of person who
"should" get through the CCA will be able to deal with that and in fact it
would be crazy for Cisco not to include this in the CCA process. My hope is
that this truly is a Architect test vs. what people have been calling the CCDE
- the Russ White design test.
