Hi Michael,
My operating system of choice is Ubuntu, but I do reluctantly run
licensed copies of XP and Vista in VM's when required. In this case,
IPExpert have confirmed that they are using a new compression algorithm,
which appears to be only supported by the latest version of WinZip.
Needless to say, I had to fire up the VM, download the 45 day trial
edition of WinZip, extract the files and then copy them back to Ubuntu.
A bit of a time waster, and bandwidth waster (with multiple 1gig
downloads), but it looks like I have got there in the end. It would be
much better if they reverted back to the previous universal compression
algorithm, or if they cannot do that, have a disclaimer on the download
page that list the requirements such as a Windows operating system and
WinZip 12.
Anyway, now its time to plug the headphones in and enjoy :)
regards Andy
