Re: CCIE Hall of Fame . . . . . Missing No.

Hey Tapas,

The CCIE Hall of Fame is indeed my little project ;-) It is by far
all-inclusive (I wish!), but it's the biggest one out there, and the only
one who lists the tracks and if a name can be verified (in my database I
also hold the date of each entry for statistics, but don't publish them).
So, the fact that there are numbers missing on this list is not because
Cisco didn't assign those, but simply because I cannot find a name to go
with the number (again, I wish!)...

Cisco assigns numbers sequentially, although looking at numbers vs. dates
there is the occassional skipping (ie. an earlier date with a higher
number). My guess is that these occur due to re-reads or so. Also, for as
far as I know, when your CCIE number becomes inactive it theoretically does
not become active again once you re-pass the lab (which means you get a new
number). But, there are exceptions, and you can arrange with Cisco that you
will keep your old number. I talked to double CCIE #4504, who's one of the
four keepers of the original CCIE Design certificate, and his status is
inactive, but Cisco will also for a re-use of his number if you re-passes
the theory+lab again.

So, keep those numbers and names coming, so that one day, maybe it is
"complete".

BTW, does anyone thinks that Cisco will stop the CCIE certification all
together once they reach #65535? Just a thought ;-)
